Memory Tip
Use `migration` as your base word: it means movement from one place to another. Then add `trans-`, which often means across or beyond, as in `transfer` or `transport`. That makes `transmigration` feel like a crossing beyond an ordinary move. It helps to keep it separate from normal human migration like `immigration`.

Etymology
Transmigration comes from Latin trans-, meaning "across" or "beyond," and migratio from migrare, meaning "to move." At first it suggested movement from one place to another across a boundary. Later it was also used for passing into another state of life or another body. Related English words include migrate, emigrant, and immigration.
