concatenation はまず string concatenation という定番の形で覚えると強いです。感覚は「要素を順番どおりに前後へつないで1本にする」。mix や merge のように中身を混ぜて一体化する感じではなく、join に近いが、とくに文字列や配列を並べて続ける場面でよく使います。concatenate（動詞）も一緒に覚え、connection と見比べると con- に『一緒にまとめる』方向の語感があり、プログラミング文脈で思い出しやすくなります。
The easiest hook is `string concatenation` in programming. Think of putting pieces one after another in order to make one longer line. It is closer to `join` than to `mix`, because the parts stay in sequence instead of blending together.
