disagreement は dis-「反対・離れて」+ agree + -ment から成る語です。agree は古フランス語 a gré「気に入って」に由来し、もとは「気持ちよく一致する」ことなので、dis- が付くと「意見が合わないこと」になり、agreement・agreeable も同系です。
Disagreement is built from dis- "apart, not," agree, and the noun ending -ment. Agree comes through Old French and originally meant something like being pleasing or being of one mind. So disagreement developed as the state of minds not fitting together. Related words include agreement and agreeable.
