disconnection は dis-「離して」+ connection「結びつき」+ -ion で、connection はラテン語 connectere（com-「共に」+ nectere「結ぶ」）に由来します。もとは『つながりを断つこと』で、そこから人や社会との結びつきが切れた『疎外』にも広がり、connect や nexus が近縁です。
Disconnection is made from dis-, connection, and -ion. Connection comes from Latin connectere, meaning "to bind together," from com- "together" and nectere "to tie," which is also seen in nexus.
