「unreleased」は un-「まだ〜ない」+ released「解放された・公表された」で、「まだ世に放たれていない」が原義です。release は古フランス語経由でラテン語 laxare「ゆるめる」につながり、relax や lax と同じく「縛りをゆるめる」感覚から意味が広がりました。
"Unreleased" is built from the English prefix un- meaning "not yet" and released. Release came into English through Old French and goes back to Latin laxare, meaning "to loosen" or "set free." From the idea of loosening bonds, the word later developed the sense of making something public or available, so unreleased means something that has not yet been "let out."
