解説
医学手術の一種で、子宮全体またはその一部を身体から取り除く医学的処置です。がんや重い出血などの治療法として行われることがあります。
覚え方のコツ
まず語尾の -ectomy を強いフックにする。appendectomy（虫垂切除）や tonsillectomy（扁桃摘出）と同じで、「-ectomy が付くと臓器や部位を外科的に切り取る手術」と覚えると医療語がまとめて整理できる。前半の hyster- は日常語ではなく、子宮関連の専門パーツとして固まりで記憶するのが実用的。have a hysterectomy, total/partial hysterectomy の形で出やすい。つづりが似る hysteria とは無関係なので混同しないこと。
