segregated はラテン語 segregare に由来し、se-『離れて』+ greg-『群れ』が骨格。aggregate や gregarious も同じ greg をもち、本来は『群れから分ける』という絵がある。だから単なる隔離でなく、人を集団ごと切り離す響きが残る。
