無担保のとは、融資の際に担保（保証）がない状態を指します。ローンを返済できない場合に貸し手が差し押さえることができる資産がない状況です。
Unsecured means not protected by a legal or financial guarantee. It is often used for loans or debts that do not have property or other assets supporting them. In finance, it contrasts with secured.

古英語系の否定接頭辞 un- に、ラテン語 securus 由来の secure、さらに過去分詞 -ed が付いた語です。se-「離れて」+ cura「心配」から secure は本来「心配がない」で、unsecured は「安全確保されない」から「無担保の」へ広がりました。関連語は security、secure です。
Unsecured is built from the Old English negative prefix un-, secure, and the ending -ed. Secure comes from Latin securus, literally meaning "free from care," from se- "without, apart" and cura "care." So unsecured first meant "not made safe" and later also came to mean "not backed by a guarantee or collateral."
