interdiction の語源・成り立ち Etymology
interdiction はラテン語 interdictio に由来し、inter-「間に」+ dicere「言う」から成る語です。もともとは「間に入って言い渡すこと」から「禁止の宣告」となり、dictate や verdict も同じ dic- を持ちます。
`Interdiction` comes from Latin `interdictio,` from `inter-` meaning "between" and `dicere` meaning "to say." The original idea was "to speak between" or "to pronounce formally," especially as an order. From there it developed into the sense of an official prohibition or banning.
