discords は discord の複数形で、語源はラテン語 discordia「不一致」です。dis-「離れて」+ cor/cord「心」から成り、「心がばらばら」が人間関係では不和、音では調和しないので不協和音になる、と考えると意味がつかめます。関連語に concord, cordial があります。
Discords is the plural of discord, from Latin discordia. It is made from dis- "apart" and cor/cord "heart," so the original image is of hearts being out of agreement. That idea later covered both human conflict and lack of harmony in music, and it is related to concord and cordial.
