disposable は dispose「処分する」+ -able「できる」の語です。dispose はラテン語 disponere に遡り、dis-「離して」+ ponere「置く」で、もとは「配置する」でした。position も同根で、「置く」が「処分する」を経て「使い捨て可」になった語です。
