語用論的に
adverb 副詞言語学で、語用論の観点から、発話が文脈の中でどのように解釈・使用されるかについて述べる語。pragmatically appropriate のように、文法上の正しさではなく、話者の意図や状況に照らした適切さを示す。
理想や原則だけにこだわらず、現実の条件や制約、実際の効果を踏まえて判断したり行動したりするさまを表す語。最善ではなくても実行可能で役に立つ方法を選ぶ、という含みで使われる。
Pragmatically means in a practical and realistic way, focusing on what will work well in a real situation. It is often used when someone makes decisions based on results rather than theory, feelings, or ideal plans. The word usually suggests a sensible approach to solving problems.
pragmatic を先に押さえると覚えやすい。practical が「実用的」なら、pragmatic はそこから一歩進んで「理想論ではなく、制約の中で実際に回るやり方を選ぶ」感じ。-ally が付くので「そのように行動する」副詞になり、act pragmatically, deal with it pragmatically, take a pragmatic approach などで定着させるとよい。theoretical や idealistic の反対側に置くと、単なる practical より“判断の現実性”が強い語だと覚えやすい。
Start with `pragmatic`. It is close to `practical`, but it feels more about making a choice that works in real conditions, not in an ideal world. Then add `-ally` to remember the adverb: `act pragmatically`, `deal with it pragmatically`, `a pragmatic approach`.
She pragmatically decided to take the safer investment option.
彼女は現実的に考えて、より安全な投資の選択肢を選んだ。
Rather than insisting on perfection, he pragmatically accepted the compromise.
完璧にこだわるのではなく、彼は現実的に妥協を受け入れた。
The government pragmatically shifted its policy to address the economic crisis.

"Pragmatically" comes from "pragmatic" plus the adverb ending "-ally." The root goes back to Greek "pragma," meaning "deed," "act," or "thing done." Because the word was tied to action and real-world matters, it developed the sense of dealing with things in a practical way; related forms include "pragmatic" and "pragmatism."
