覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
taste（味）が分かれば、そのまま「味がある感じ」= tasty と覚えやすいです。-y は rainy, salty のように「〜っぽい」「〜がある」を作る形なので、taste + y で自然に意味がつながります。ニュアンスは delicious ほど大げさではなく、日常会話で「おいしい」と気軽に言う感じ。a tasty meal, tasty soup, tasty snack など食べ物とよく結びつけて覚えると定着します。yummy は幼い・くだけた響きが強め、tasty は大人も普通に使える語です。

tasty は taste「味」+ -y「〜のある」から成る語で、taste は古フランス語 taster、さらに俗ラテン語 *tastare「触れて確かめる」にさかのぼります。もとは舌で試して良さを知る感覚なので「おいしい」が出てきて、tasteful や distaste も同じ語族です。
