客観性とは、個人的な感情や意見に左右されず、事実に基づいて判断する性質。科学や報道などで求められる重要な態度。証拠やデータを冷静に評価し、先入観にとらわれない姿勢がその基盤となる。
Objectivity is the quality of being fair and based on facts rather than personal feelings or opinions. It is important in areas such as journalism, science, and decision-making where neutral judgment is valued.

objective（客観的な）が分かれば、その名詞形が objectivity。「-ity」は quality, activity などと同じく「性質・状態」を作る語尾なので、「客観的である性質」と捉えると覚えやすいです。subjectivity（主観性）との対比でセットにすると定着しやすく、研究・報道・議論で maintain objectivity, journalistic objectivity の形でよく見かけます。感情ではなく事実やデータに寄る態度、という使用場面ごと覚えると忘れにくい語です。

objectivity の語源・成り立ち Etymology
objectivity は objective＋-ity で、objective はラテン語 obiectus「前に投げられたもの」に由来します。ob-「前へ」＋ jacere「投げる」なので、自分の前に置かれた対象として眺める感覚から「客観性」になります。関連語に object, inject。
Objectivity comes from objective plus the noun ending -ity. Objective goes back to Latin obiectus, from ob- "before" and jacere "to throw," so it originally meant something placed before the mind or eyes. From that sense of looking at something as an external object, objectivity came to mean judging without personal bias. Related words include object and inject.
