解説 Definition
本来は、半透膜を通して溶媒が濃度差に応じて移動する「浸透」という科学用語。そこから転じて、知識や習慣などを明示的に教わらなくても、周囲の環境から自然に吸収して身につけることも表す。
Osmosis is the scientific process in which liquid moves through a barrier from one side to another. In everyday English, it can also mean learning or absorbing ideas slowly and naturally without direct teaching. This second meaning is common in informal discussion.
